Why don't you accept unmodified gene models?

Answer:

We only use Apollo to receive your submissions of modification to gene structure, i.e., changes to the exon/intron structure, because the program merging manual and automatic annotation cannot differentiate if a gene submitted by the community hasn't been modified because it didn't need to, or because the user didn't check it (but modified the neighboring gene, for example.).

If you inspected a gene and decided you approve its gene structure, i.e., confirm that a gene prediction is correct and does not require any modifications, please use the "Gene Metadata" form (following this link) and select the option "Approve gene structure" and type a short justification.
