Crawford et al (2010) Anopheles funestus RNA-seq transcriptome

Anopheles funestus is one of the primary vectors of human malaria, which causes a million deaths each year in sub-Saharan Africa. Few scientific resources are available to facilitate studies of this mosquito species and relatively little is known about its basic biology and evolution, making development and implementation of novel disease control efforts more difficult. The An. funestus genome has not been sequenced, so in order to facilitate genome-scale experimental biology, we have sequenced the adult female transcriptome of An.

Desjardins et al (2015) Anopheles quadrimaculatus transcriptome shotgun assembly

A set of 18,724 Anopheles quadrimaculatus Orlando (1952) transcripts was assembled using the Trinity package from the combined RNA-Seq generated from nine different life stages of the Orlando strain (eggs, 1st instar, 2nd instar, 3rd instar, 4th instar, early pupae, late pupae, adult female and adult male).

Li et al (2015) Musca domestica mixed stage RNA-seq transcriptome

This study analyzed the combined transcriptome obtained from M. domestica larvae, pupae, and adults that were either normal or bacteria-challenged by an Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus mixture. A total of 54,821,138 clean reads (4.93 Gb) were yielded by Illumina sequencing, which were de novo assembled into 89,842 unigenes.
